A Collection of Firsts

This gallery features pieces from my undergraduate studies in studio art. Having never received formal art training before that point, each work is a first with a particular media, technique, or process.

While this collection is certainly not the most current or complex, I highlight these items to illustrate some of the traditional skills that tend not to be showcased elsewhere in my work.

Additional Info:
Prior to this piece, I literally had not drawn since elementary school. While I would hardly label this work as artistic, it marks the point from which all my artistic endeavors originate.

While the three panels create one cohesive image, each was rendered to a different degree - the top panel rendered the least, the bottom panel the most.

Pepper's Ghost illusion

Additional Info:
For this project, we were asked to create a finely-crafted object. I thought it would be interesting if the object itself was not actually there. So, I used a modified version of the stage illusion "Pepper's Ghost" to depict a crumbled statue with a ghostly image of its original state. To play on the fact that it is simply a trick used in the entertainment industry, the structure housing the illusion was designed to resemble Hollywood flats.
