For me, it’s all about story.
Attraction design bridges the gap between concept and reality. I love the notion of shepherding ideas - nurturing them - until they are ultimately realized as physical experiences guests can engage with and enjoy.
As a designer with over a decade in themed entertainment, I have had the pleasure of tackling incredibly diverse roles - granting me a broad understanding of what is required to design AND build the highest quality experiences. The intersection of creative-intent and operational requirements is where the greatest opportunities for artistry occur. Every aspect is required, and though each desires a particular outcome, all must work together in support of the central themes of the experience or story being told.
The tension inherent in the process helps hone designs and bring all the parts into equilibrium. That’s what drives me as a designer… to find that balance, to invoke an emotional response, and in the end, bring to life experiences that guests feel are created just for them.
